I have found that completely deleting a lecture in a class doesn’t always work depending on the content. I am finding shorter and shorter attention spans for students and some groups need lots of smaller activities to keep them engaged. So like in the first article, I have done shorter power point style lectures with blanks spots for students to fill in the information, interspersing discussion questions and quick activities during the lecture, and “quiz” questions during the lecture. In a three hour class, I try to keep the lecture to 45 minutes max.
